WC 2500

WC EMD SD35Q 2500 gets moved around the yard.  2500 is a unique unit, having started life as high-nose Southern Railway EMD SD35 3024.  Fox River Valley Railroad ended up with the unit, chopping the nose in the process, but the unit continued to wear its Southern "tuxedo" paint scheme well into its days as WC 2500.  Its future looked bleak when it suffered a major engine room fire, but WC rebuilt the unit into an "SD35Q", making it the equivalent of an SD39, and repainted the unit into WC's maroon and gold paint scheme.  The unit, now over forty (!) years old, continues to earn revenue for current owner Canadian National.  Mark W.
