WSOR Sand Car

On Christmas morning 2002, I stopped on the west side of Waukesha, WI, to get pictures of several of a string of ore-style cars that the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad had been using to haul sand.  The cars appeared to be basically rust, with a patch of black paint and a number on them!  They had been purchased by WSOR from the Chicago & North Western Railroad, and were originally used on the Duluth Missabe & Iron Range Railroad.  Shown above is WSOR 7008.  As of 7/25/03, these cars are all gone, replaced by newer Ortner/aggregate-style hopper cars, per the WSOR^ Yahoo!group.  Mark W.
