Soo Line Alco 2-8-2 #1003 participated in two Santa Trains in 2007, the first visiting Ripon and Hartford, and the second visiting Plymouth on WSOR's recent acquisition, the Superior Sub. This would be the first time that Plymouth has seen a steam locomotive for 54 years! Unfortunately, while the locomotive was scheduled to arrive in Plymouth well before the 6 PM night photo session, it was delayed several times, and didn't make it till 11PM; nonetheless, a significant number of people turned out trackside to watch the steam engine roll through many lineside communities enroute, and an even more significant number of people continued to wait in Plymouth for the train!
