Hello All

I stumbled across this album on the Illinois Railway Museum in regards to the Michigan Northern power car (former UP 967B) and Marc 91 1:1 kitbash (basically taking the guts from the Marc unit and installing them into the MN powercar to rebuild a E9B). It appears they have been busy lately.

It's my understanding from talking to a member of IRM that basically the WSOR gets the E9B for 10 years once it's built, although if I recall correctly, I remember reading that Mr. Gardner said he's going to donate the entire A-B-A set to IRM when he retires.

(granted, take my information for what it is worth and what you paid for it...not a thing)

I think the neat thing about the IRM shots is they show alot of the interior shots and components.

I'm also just guessing the B unit would become 10B...considering they have a 10a and a 10c. I could be wrong though

As long as we have 104 clearly depicted with its groaning fans - might as well show the other toys spotted 5/13.

Ed, I'm pretty sure that that first flat car is a wheel flat car used for, well, moving wheel sets around. I'll default to one of Fuzzy's photos since I don't have any of mine on the internet:

Glad to finally have a sighting of the burro crane too. I hadn't seen or heard anything about it for a year or so, so I wasn't sure if it was still even around....

I don't think that is a wheel flat. Those have NREX reporting marks, and a little more structure on the deck. I might have to look closer at it.

Here is a closer look. Not much of a deck at all...

Not much left inside the A-unit either.

Mike, After seeing that you're right, it doesn't look as much like a wheel car after all. It kind of did to me from the ground level view though. Interesting.

The wheel flats have similar mini-bulkheads on them. May have been built around the same time as the wheel flats.

Perhaps used to haul panel track? Or another load that is chained to the car. Maybe MOW equipment?

The E9A on Blomberg trucks...

GP-type Blomberg trucks, and a lot of blocking. Might have a slight coupler-height issue.   The B-unit has been primered. No portholes in it yet...

Now that's something you don't see every day. I had heard from someone at IRM that the Marc unit was possibly supposed to be saved and sold to be used as a stuffed and mounted display unit somewhere, but it makes me wonder if there is enough left to do that.

Mike, you don't happen to have a shot of the B unit in primer, do you?
