I'm not shocked they closed. Even the one in Oshburg is always empty...prior to the road construction too. The food's nothing special and there are plenty of other fast food places already around that are already 'established' with people.

At least during warm weather, when in Oshkosh, driving into any place other than Ardi and Ed's :food: is SACRILEGE for railfans (you should know that)!

It also seems everything that has gone on that corner since Rich's Bakery closed has not made it. Krispey Kremes closed as well not too long after it opened.

Well, the places in that strip center behind it seem to be doing OK. In fact, a friend and I lunched at Huhot there just this afternoon.

...of lakeflies, traffic & trees?

Seems like everytime I go to A&E's I get no rail traffic. Plus it's nice to unplug from 'fanning once in a while.

I can hear the DDs at MP 181.1 and MP 169.1 from there and have time to get trackside without rushing. Plus you can hear voice traffic out of Neenah and Shops with enough time to get trackside if you desire and in an easier to shoot spot than US45.

LOL...you know what's wild about this thread? When they opened for you guys I only rarely stopped at Sonic and didn't understand the hub-bub about them opening up. Lately, they've been one of my favorite stops, especially for their breakfast toasters. And the drive through staff are about the most cheerful of anyone.

I think the reason everyone was so excited was because Sonic ran ad's in this area for quite a few years before there was a Sonic in WI. Their burgers weren't that great but it was a nice stop for a shake late at night and their breakfast burritos were fairly good.

One big thing that I think they had going against them is that too many Sonics and A&W's opened around the same time in the area.

I'll agree on the Burgers. I rather go to Tom's or just about anywhere else for that but I liked there popcorn chicken & their treats were good as well.
