Anyone out there? I was asking because I don't think I've seen/heard an F-22 yet and wanted to know if any were here this year. Is the military contingent of jets smaller this year or is it me?

I was up on Tuesday (7/28) and noticed a complete lack of anything modern military except for a single WisANG F-16 out of Madison. Of course, they needed the ramp space for the A380.

Hopefully they have some modern military stuff there on Saturday. That's the biggest reason I go to the air show.

I wish that more modern stuff and/or the Blue Angels/Thunderbirds would be able to perform. I heard that there's an issue with noise/residential areas...but it's a shame. Imagine how many more people would go. :idea3el: Who knows?

I always heard the Blue Angels/Thunderbirds couldn't perform because the show line is too close to the runway at Oshkosh.

If you wanted to see the Thunderbirds, you should've driven a few miles further south about a week ago...

:D

Dan, are you thinking about swinging by EAA at all this weekend?

They did have a Thunderbird F-16 flying around the grounds on Sunday and Monday. Also, several of the other modern warbirds have been flying at various times this year. I was on the grounds this past Friday-Monday and Wednesday so far.

OTOH, I have been struck by the relative lack of aircraft registered in countries other than Canada (C-xxxx) and the USA (N-----) at EAA this year, although a bunch of German-registered aircraft did arrive in the 'North 40' camping area on Monday. Aside from that, the aircraft turnout has been very normal.

I'm glad to hear that they at least have the F-16 and the Warbirds there. Hopefully they do the mock military run tomorrow. The weather doesn't look too promising but hopefully things clear up before the 3pm show.

On the grounds, I doubt it. Finances are tight now (some of Misty's leave ended up being unpaid :banghead: ) and we had an unexpected bill. I was thinking of sitting by the old Wal*Mart parking lot where you can still watch most of the show, but that depends on how I'm feeling. I wasn't feeling the greatest yesterday.
