Prototype aerodynamic wedge minimizes wind resistance on the front of a double-stack intermodal train.
Wonder if any are in regular use yet? Spotted out front at Proviso 6-11-11-11-11.

That's great and everything but means little when you have units with large flat cab faces ahead of this trailer. Unit cabs need to be more streamlined on their front ends.

I agree, does not do much good in the middle of a consist. Albeit a good idea though...does make one wonder what they would put in there though. :idea3el: I sure hope they get that green arrow going in the right direction though

Links to the Flickr posts - deliberately left those as wide shots for rivet counters. Could be an interesting kitbash.
I have an email out to several rail pros asking if these are now being used - these 2 shots are from mid-June.
Looking at the larger views - you can see the 'Structions!

Interesting idea, but my first thought was the same as Karl's. Clearly it's time we brought back the styling of the E and F units instead of the square boxes we have today!

Looking once again...triple take??? there is a green arrow (thanks Ed)...not lost it yet, but it is rolling downhill  Apparently things in the shape of a triangle are hypnotizing...like Bermuda Triangle, but different. I'm out, catch some :zzzz:

Report from a few RR employees indicate this has been on at least one train - was photographed - and has sat in that parking spot for months. Maybe they'll string it with LED Xmas lites?
