If you place a wager on whether a train will derail... is that considered off-track betting?

Excerpts:
Quote:
When talking about speed traps, the first community that comes to mind is the Fond du Lac County village of Rosendale, population 923. Rosendale[, a one-horse town located on Highway 23 between Fond du Lac and Ripon,] has been described as arguably The Speed Trap Capitol of North America.

When I talked about this on my radio program the other day, I was swamped with callers who had gotten tickets in Rosendale. What struck me most though was the number of callers who said that they had received tickets for only going 2 or 3 miles over the limit! If true, officials in Rosendale should be ashamed of themselves.

 Geez! And I thought Sturtevant was bad! (Actually, I think Sturtevant has mellowed out quite a bit in the last decade or two...)

When I was living in Waupun but still working in Appleton I would have to drive through Rosendale every day. I think thats the only town that you will ever see me go under the speed limit in.

Although it is kind of fun to watch the FIB who decided to fly past you 10 miles ago get pulled over in Rosendale...

Ive seen it happen twice!!! :D

Rosendale blows.... I go through there for every railfan trip to Fondy and once I passed a cop doing no more than 2 over and he turned around and followed me all the way out of town.

Never thought your palms could get so sweaty...

I've passed through Rosendale either as a driver or passenger on many trips between home and Green Bay and not only never been pulled over, but never even seen a cop.

I think the town's reputation is exaggerated. There's probably only one cop but he's a real prick.

I was through there a few weeks ago and had a cop whip around and follow me until I left town...and I was going exactly the speed limit...

Another place you really need to watch out is North Fond du Lac.

I'm old enough to remember Jerry Stegen(the old police cheif in Rosendale) parked in his driveway on the east side of town with the radar up. :x
Actually, Rosendale has 4 cops, can't remember how the shifts overlap, but there's always one near the high school in the morning and at the end of the school day. :x

Yeah, don't get me going on NFDL cops...I've had my share of run-ins with them...vehicular and otherwise....
