If you place a wager on whether a train will derail... is that considered off-track betting?

unlike what I've been seeing alot of online, they actually do make an effort to get their locomotives painted in the company's yellow/black scheme

Looks like you said so right there

WATCO isn't against letting their lines have their own image (it also helps to have a paint shop online and owning your own power like WSOR does....)

Emphasis mine...

Another thing is basically the entire WSOR fleet that is in red and silver is kept in excellent shape paint-wise, so there would be no need to repaint that stuff anyways. WATCO seems to be on a shopping spree, first they bought the WSOR, now today they bought the Birmingham Southern today, but I guess we're lucky the WSOR is remaining its identity, as they are renaming the Birmingham Southern to Birmingham Terminal, so it could be worse as far as the WSOR goes.

What's that smell? Code BROWN! Go change your diaper. :censor:

There is a LOT of similarity between how both companies were built. There is far too much roster conflict for merging the WSOR into WAMX repos. They will likely embrace (shudder) the CaNoodle plan - keep all active assigned reporting marks alive. With over 20 rail operations being run - eventually you'd run out of 1500, 38xx and 40xx numbers.
I suspect some WAMX power may end up getting painted in Horicon. And given the "art" seen in the Railroad Photos track which I compiled today - Horicon can outdo nearly any scheme out there. Not a big surprise.

Apparently 5 legislators who cannot read. As in - President Bill Gradner - before and after the sale. Partisan horseshit.

Exactly what kind of political payback IS selling your successful, growing business to someone with even MORE capital to nurture the railroad's growth?
These 5 idiots don't have the combined IQ of a football bat. :idea3el:

Todd M Taylor wrote:

5 Democratic state representatives asked a federal agency delay approval of the sale of Milwaukee-based Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. to a Kansas firm. According to the legislators' letter, Watco was to assume control of the Wisconsin & Southern Thursday.

In a letter to the U.S. Surface Transportation Board on Wednesday, the legislators said a 60-day delay in the sale to Watco Transportation Services LLC would provide time to investigate whether loss of local control of the short-line railroad would hurt shippers here.

In a news release, the representatives also raised a partisan issue, saying a delay would allow time to probe whether the sale was a political payback for illegal campaign contributions to Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, by Wisconsin & Southern officials.

William Gardner, the railroad's president and chief executive officer, last July got two years of probation after pleading guilty to two felonies for exceeding campaign donation limits and laundering donations to Walker and other Wisconsin politicians.

Calling for the delay are Reps. Brett Hulsey, Kelda Helen Roys and Terese Berceau, all of Madison; Louis Molepske, Stevens Point; and Fred Clark, Baraboo.

Without sliding down the slippery slope of political discussion here...I'm going to say simply that I'm surprised politics took this long to raise its idiotic head.
