An early entry from me....

Steam
The light dances and plays as soot, smoke, and steam settle around Laona & Northern #4.

Hey Erik,

For some reason, I can't see your photo. Can you repost, please? Thanks!

The world keeps turning as the eastbound control signals at West Medill on the Santa Fe transcon see what was probably their last night: in the morning a signal gang showed up to cut in the new signals just out of view to the left. These "heritage" cantilever signal bridges are still in place in a few spots in northern Missouri and western Illinois but BNSF is quickly replacing them with modern ones. Many of the bridges I saw on this trip already had their replacements up and ready to be cut in.

I never win these, and probably never will. Hence why I stopped contributing my pics to this contest.... but just for the hell of it, here's another bad picture taken when I was experimenting with my new 55-200mm lens

Amtrak 7 detours on the UP Milwaukee sub. The severe thunderstorm delayed the train for about 20 minutes; it held at Gurnee until the squall passed. I almost went home due to the severity of the storm; luckily the hail did no damage to my car. When the sun came out, the contrast between the grass, train, and the sky was incredible. Photo taken on the highway 165 overpass in Pleasant Prairie.

OK, we're definitely going to need 3 more entries so we can make this a 100 pointer this week!
