If you place a wager on whether a train will derail... is that considered off-track betting?

Gonna toss this one in, Isaac's winner from a couple weeks ago reminded me of this guy, who hopped on my windshield as I got on I-39/90/94 and stayed on until just after I got this photo!

I'll try and post one
This was taken on 27 Aug 2005 near the end of the Lewis and Clark runs to Astoria from Oregon. We had chased the train from Portland, and this was about the 4th or 5th time we caught up to it. The engineer was nice enough to wave just in time....

This one was taken last weekend on Wisconsin's Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. Fall is coming quickly to the Northwoods.

Rigged

Had a few minutes this evening to throw the rig on the Mustang for a couple quick shots. Here's one.

Hey Isaac have you tried that rig after dark yet? I think the streeks of light with the stationary car would look cool.

I hope to get her out downtown Milwaukee one of these nights. Should work rather well. So no I haven't tried it, but you bet I'm gonna! :D

Wow the competition this week is getting good.
They Recently tore up about 5 miles of track on the old Milwaukee Road line between Savanna to Moline Illinois. the tracks between Albany north to Savanna have been gone for some years, but after several years of nonuse the tracks from Albany to about 5 miles south of town were torn out.
I over Contrasted & Saturated the photo trying to make it more... harsh & dreamlike, no one here likes to see lines torn out, simply documenting the new End of Line did not seem like enough...
Image

The burned and contrasted images are all that's left of the Former Milwaukee Road tracks from south Albany to Savanna, Illinois. How many Trains, how many Engineeers & Conductors, how many R/W Workers and Signal Maintainers worked this line only to have it extinguished and erased from existance. As they say, all things will come to an end.

Later Bill

P.S. I can't wait to see those shots Isaac.

Yesterday (Oct 4th) A friend and I took a trip to La Crosse for a long overdue River Run. The day was perfectly sunny, but early morning fog along the river that hung around for a while made for some interesting shoot conditions, such as this shot:

Image

A foggy morning at River Junction (LaCrescent, MN) finds ICE 6414 leading the M-SPKC. The switch immediately in front of the unit will take the train off the CP and onto ICE trackage to continue on to Kansas City.

Don't worry, if you haven't already submitted a photo, this topic will remain open till after noon. I just wanted to get some resized photos up as long as I was working on a couple things.

FYI, if you notice that your photos are regularly being resized, please consider pre-resizing your entry to 800 pixels as the largest dimension, to keep QC of your own entries in your hands. This is actually something that is specified in the "rules", but I'm not going to throw any books (or even e-books!) at anyone. :swg:
