If you place a wager on whether a train will derail... is that considered off-track betting?

I am currently wanting to bash an SDL-39 in either Milwaukee Road paint. I plan on getting an older atheran non dyno locomotive, either a GP35 non dyno or shortening a GP38 for the frame/shell. Which would be more accurate? I also intend on getting an NSW 421 Class Australian Clyde/EMD locomotive for the trucks because they are the standard export design trucks which were used on the SDL39. Does Austrains or Train-O-Rama still make these? Would really like to make this as accurate as possible.

I'm not much help in this area, but maybe these two FuzzyWorld threads from the past might help;

And here's a pretty detailed build-up of one of the Kaslo shop SDL-39 kits. However, the post will probably just make you frustrated because I don't think the kits exist any more :wink:

And you might get a chuckle out of this loco I found while searching :lol:

RMC had plans years ago, IIRC the July 1973 issue.

Someone made brass truck frames in HO. I saw some at a swap a couple years ago, and they looked ncie.
